Active Mom: March 2020

Hey there moms!

This is MARIANA SORIANO. A mom that holds many hats, the best one being a mother to a beautiful baby girl. She has juggled school, school work, entrepreneurship and taking care of her family. Phew! I’m tired just writing about her many tasks. Yet, she has managed to gracefully finish what she has started…and even if she didn’t, she would still be a ROCKSTAR ACTIVE MOM! I won’t keep blabbing and just let you read her interview below:

What is your name and where are you from?
My name is Mariana Mendoza and I’m from Houston, TX.
How many kids do you have and what are their ages?
I have a 7 month old baby girl.
Are you a stay at home mom or work outside the home?
I am currently a stay at home mom but recently graduated with my BS of science as a EC-6 bilingual educator. I have also become a certified MUA (makeup artist, established 02/9/2020 through Glam Lab).
Tell us a little bit about your daily routine with the family.
My daily routine consists of a schedule, lol. It might be the teacher in me but we wake up super early at 7am with baby girl. She has her milk, we do music time for 30 minutes and then she naps. She wakes up for lunch and is having table food already. We do play time with blocks and chewing toys because she is now teething and we do that for 30 minutes and then naps again. While she naps I try to get lunch ready for when my husband comes home from work. Realistically, sometimes lunch won’t get done because baby girl will wake up earlier than need be. When she’s up I give her a snack and we play some more. She’ll nap again and then it’s dinner time. Daddy is usually home to do the evening shift while I prepare dinner if I have time (and somewhere in between there I’ll run errands).

I have gotten back on my feet because my motivator (my husband) has joined me and we work out together.

When and how did you decide to become active and incorporate self-care into your routine?
I decided to self care when I had to make a choice I would either finish school or stay home and just not finish what I had already started. I also had to make a choice to let postpartum hit me and defer me or get out of bed and take care of myself because I have a baby to care for. I started to work out here and there even if it was for 10 minutes. After a while I stopped because it became hectic with school and work and a newborn at the time.
How often do you work out and what type of work out?
I have gotten back on my feet and by that I mean working out because my motivator (my husband) has joined me and we work out at night when he gets home from work. We use YouTube on our TV and do our workouts in our living room.
Tell us something about yourself that you’d like others to know.
I am a daughter, sister, friend, wife, mother, teacher and a MUA (Make-Up Artist).

Mariana’s Advice to Moms:

Take a minute to just BREATHE.

What is your favorite part about being a mom?
All of it I enjoy being a mom! It’s hard but beautiful!
What advice would you give today’s busy mom when it comes to self-care and adding exercise to their lives?
I would say… take a minute to just breathe. Dishes will still be there and they will eventually get done just like laundry and everything else but watching very little cute thing your baby does only happens once so enjoy them!
