Helping Out a Prisoner

familia galvez

Ana (far right) and her family.

My dearest,

I’m trying to help a little girl named Ana. She is a Honduran who is very smart and is currently in the 3rd grade in a school in San Pedro Sula. She is a straight A student and very responsible.

As many kids in Honduras, she is currently in a tough spot. Her parents have not been able to pay for her school, and they are currently owing half of 2015 and all of 2016. Honduran schools go from February to November, so she’s still got a long ways to go in 3rd grade. Her school isn’t allowing her to take tests until her parents pay for school.

Her mother, Lesly, works selling sandals so she can feed her 2 daughters. Her husband, Henry is currently serving time in the city prison for a crime he didn’t commit. His hearing is set to June 2016, so he’s not able to provide for his family.  He is also in need of monetary help as he needs to pay for all legal and government fees. His lawyer is working on his case and believes she has a solid one but its moving slowly due to lack of payment or timely payments.

God has placed this family in my heart and my heart won’t sit still. My family and I are willing to help but we aren’t able to meet all the needs this family has.

I’m sharing this with you today praying that you might be touched and help in any way you can. I’m placing below various ways to help:

1.Ana’s school is pending the following payments:

July 2015 – December 2015: Lps. 8,600 (USD$375)

January 2016 – December 2016: Lps. 21,900.00 (USD$953)

Total Lps – 30,500.00 (USD$1390)

Honduras Money is Lempiras, you get Lps.23.00 per each USD$.

Deposits can be made to the following account in Honduras

# 11-201-0132-120

Banco de Occidente

San Pedro Sula

Name: Instituto Educativo Emanuel

NOTE: EVERY DEPOSIT MUST SPECIFY THAT IT IS TO PAY FOR ANA GABRIELA GALVEZ SCHOOLING. If you make a deposit please keep  a copy and scan it to me so I can corroborate school has received it.

My hope is to pay for all 2015, 2016 and 2017 so this family has some breathing space to get back on their feet.

  1. Ana’s mom, Lesly sells sandals for a living (very cute ones!) You can shop for her merchandise directly with her (contact me for more information) as well as recommend to your Friends and family. You will need to call her to buy her merchandise.

NOTE: You can only shop for sandals if you’re in San Pedro Sula, Honduras. Lesly isn’t able to ship merchandise anywhere at the moment.

Please see some samples of her product below.

  1. If you do not live in Honduras and cannot make a deposit, please contact me for other ways to contribute with money.

FAQ’S

Why help the family of a man in prison?

It is not my job to judge why he is in prison or if he is or isn’t guilty. It is my job to help whomever asks for help.

Why doesn’t the lady (Lesly) get a job?

She does have a job. She sells shoes for a living. She walks and takes the bus and taxi everywhere customers call her with merchandise that she buys on credit and then hopes the other person (customer) pays her so that she may pay her vendor.

Can I give cash?

Yes. This family is in need of many other things. You may do so with cash, medicine, groceries, etc. Contact me for ways to do so.

Can I buy sandals if I’m not in Honduras?

At the moment no. She just recently started this small business with no business capital and isn’t able to ship anywhere. But you can make a donation to her if you’d like.

Isn’t it dangerous to help a prisoner?

It might be. It’s also dangerous to walk outside in the rain and get struck by lightning; or drive your car in heavy traffic. I see it this way: I’m Honduran, I lived in Honduras, I was born in Honduras, I was also mugged in Honduras and kidnapped in Honduras, but I LOVE HONDURAN PEOPLE, and if not us, then who? If not me, then who?

Hebrews 13:16

And do not forget to do good and to share with others, for with such sacrifices God is pleased.
