It seems that everywhere you “log in” these days is filled with comments that denote what “I think”. I have read in several places that 2015 is the year where people get upset about everything and are sensitive to anything. And please, count me in with “those people”. I’m not the best at keeping quiet.
Several centuries ago, you’d read in the newspapers about people “not having a voice”. Women didn’t have the right to vote or speak up (and still don’t in some parts of the world). Some people were slaves and had no rights at all (still happens too). And now, apparently, everyone wants to voice out what they think about anything and everything. And social media is the “perfect” platform to speak your mind, regardless of the harm that is done.(Pardon my overuse of quotes today).
It wasn’t very long ago that bullying became a trending topic. Everyone was upset about children, teens and even some adults committing suicide due to being bullied. You would hear about it in the news, on social media, at school…everywhere basically. Yet, as any other trend, it easily fades away when something fresher arrives in the scene. We talked and talked about how bullying is wrong and despicable, but it’s almost the end of 2015 and people are still being bullied, especially on the media platform.
- Key strokes are killing all regard for feelings.
- Key strokes are killing love.
- Key strokes are killing compassion.
- Key strokes are killing friendships.
- Key strokes are killing respect.
3 Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, 4 not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others. In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus:
6 Who, being in very nature[a] God,
did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage;
7 rather, he made himself nothing
by taking the very nature[b] of a servant,
being made in human likeness.
8 And being found in appearance as a man,
he humbled himself
by becoming obedient to death—
even death on a cross!
I know revolutions don’t take place until someone speaks out and others follow. But, I don’t think this world knows that the truest revolution started almost 2000 years ago and the one who not only spoke loudly but ACTED upon His words is named JESUS. He revolutionized the world with love, forgiveness and compassion. He, being at the same level as God, reduced Himself to die on a cross. He didn’t think of Himself, He thought of YOU and me and everyone else in this world and considered US more important than his flesh and bones. He looked towards our interests and not His.
I want to apologize to everyone that I have bullied, offended or disregarded his/her feelings, either in person, by text, by phone or in social media. My mission is to follow in the Original Revolutionary’s footsteps and look into the interests of others before I do mine.
Let’s be TRUE REVOLUTIONARIES this 2015.
If we’re going to “stir up” something, let it be true, pure, noble, right, lovely and admirable. Otherwise, let us restrain ourselves from voicing our opinion…even on social media.
